Overview
McAfee Secure Content Management (SCM) solutions provide protection for messaging and Internet traffic at the network gateway. The McAfee SCM 4.0 Appliances comprises three major new products: McAfee Secure Messaging Gateway 4.0, providing secure content management for SMTP and POP3, McAfee Secure Web Gateway 4.0, providing secure content management for HTTP, ICAP and FTP and the McAfee Secure Internet Gateway 4.0, combining the above to products to provide secure content management for both web and messaging protocols.
These new solutions provide the ability to secure your in and outbound messaging traffic by providing a combination of anti-virus, content filtering, anti-phishing, URL filtering and anti-spam technologies. In addition, if you are an existing McAfee appliance customer we will be providing a seamless upgrade from the WebShield or SpamKiller gateway appliances to the new McAfee Secure Content Management Appliances.

New Product Features
McAfee Secure Web Gateway - This solution will inherit all the existing functionality included in the McAfee WebShield Appliance v3.0 for HTTP and FTP protocols. In addition to the existing functionality we will provide support for:
URL filtering/Internet Access Control (licensed add-on)
Internet Content Adaptation Protocol (ICAP) support
High performance scanning for HTTP and ICAP on all supported platforms
McAfee Secure Messaging Gateway - This solution will inherit all the existing functionality included in the McAfee WebShield and SpamKiller Appliance v3.0 for SMTP and POP3 protocols. In addition to the existing functionality we will provide support for:
End user and Admin managed quarantine
Bayesian Filtering “Manual Learning” and per policy database
End user and Admin configurable black and white lists
Network Look-ups (i.e. 3rd Party RBLs) within SpamAssassin rules engine, including language specific spam
Enhanced anti-phishing functionality
Directory Harvest Attack prevention
McAfee Secure Internet Gateway - This solution will inherit all the existing functionality included in the McAfee WebShield and SpamKiller Appliances v3.0 for SMTP, POP3, HTTP and FTP. In addition, the Secure Internet Gateway will also benefit from the new functionality being introduced into the Secure Messaging and Secure Web Gateway solutions.
New Hardware Features - Fibre network interface card and Remote access card will be provided as standard for the SCM 3300 and 3400 appliances. Accelerator card will be implemented as standard on the 3400 for Secure Web Gateway to provide hardware accelerated scanning for HTTP and ICAP.
Server requirements - McAfee Secure Content Management Appliances will only install on the WebShield Appliance e250, e500, e1000, 3100, 3200 and 3300 units as per the above product compatibility matrix. |
