Drive Encryption
There are serveral Drivers, KernelModules or so to use encpryption:CFS
- Uses NFS-Server for enryption of a whole directory-tree
TCFS
- TCFS is a further development of CFS which has a more tight integration into NFS. It patches the Kernel
BestCrypt
http://www.jetico.com
- BestCrypt gives a user the possibilty to make a complete encryptet directory tree in a virtual-filesystem which is stored in containers. It has special tools for making, formating, mounting and deaktivateting the encryptet filesystem. It is a commeial product but the source is downloadable.
PPDD
http://linux01.gwdg.de/~alatham
- PPDD is a driver for linux which offers the user the possibility to make files who act like a device. The device can be mountet like a normal filesystem. It is just encrypts the directory tree so there are no special tools for mounting and so on required.
there is alos "Encryptet Home Directory", "StegFS", "CryptFS", "loop-AES" and "truecrypt"
In my opinion loop-AES and truecrypt are very well.
Since truecrypt is available as a debian-package it is very easy to install and very easy to use.
Don't forget to use STRONG passphrases!!! Without em encryption is useless.
